The NHS long term and people plan sets out our ambitions to nurture current and future leaders by developing and supporting those with the capability and ambition to reach the most senior levels of the service.
As talent maturity across the NHS develops there is an increasing appetite to fully understand individual aspirations and support people to reach their full potential, whilst having a transparent and simplified process of talent deployment. The NHS talent pools will focus on the support, retention and deployment of individuals who are on a pathway to become an Executive Director or Chief Executive and are demonstrating the right level of potential, capabilities and behaviours to be an inclusive and compassionate leader.
Having diverse talent pools enables us to have visibility of our future talent, providing access to a group of people who have aspirations to become senior leaders and supporting people to feel confident in taking their next step in their career. The ambition is that every aspirant Executive Director and Chief Executive will be part of one of the seven regional Talent Pools, enabling the Talent Team in that particular region to work with organisations and systems on future talent mobility and recruitment.
Membership to the talent pools is split into two routes.
